BUILDING IN A

HISTORIC NEIGHBORHOOD

Dignowity Hill is more than a neighborhood, it's a piece of San Antonio's history.

As one of San Antonio's historic neighborhoods, Dignowity Hill has a unique architectural character and sense of place that we work together to protect. Historic homes, streetscapes, mature trees, and the scale and character of our buildings all contribute to what makes this community special.

If you're planning to renovate a historic home, make significant exterior changes, build a new home, or develop property within the historic district, please connect with DHNA early in the planning process.

Our goal isn't to stop progress. It's to help ensure that new ideas and improvements respect the history, character, and future of Dignowity Hill. Meeting with the DHNA gives applicants an opportunity to introduce their project, hear from community representatives, ask questions, and consider neighborhood feedback before moving forward with the City's historic review process.

Have a Project to Present?

We welcome homeowners, architects, contractors, developers, and property owners to meet with us and present their ideas.

Bring your plans, ideas, renderings, or questions. We'll work with you to find an available Board meeting date and give you an opportunity to introduce your project to the DHNA.d

Each SAPD substation serves as a base for patrol officers, property crime and crisis response investigators for a certain area of the City.

Each substation includes a San Antonio Fear Free Environment (SAFFE) Unit with officers assigned to specific streets or neighborhoods. SAFFE officers work with residents, businesses, community leaders, and patrol officers to help prevent crimes before they happen.
